    Red Devils pair miss training

    29 Sep 2009 - 13:47:23

Manchester United could be without Michael Owen and Ji-Sung Park for Wednesday's Champions League Group B clash with Wolfsburg.

Striker Owen and midfielder Park both missed training on Tuesday and are rated doubtful for the visit of the German champions.

Veteran goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar was back in training at United's Carrington headquarters but is still a few weeks away from making his competitive return following summer hand surgery.

Meanwhile, defender Nemanja Vidic is predicting a lively encounter against relatively unknown opposition at Old Trafford.

"They're the German champions and they have quality players, particularly up front," he told the club's official website.

"It'll be a hard game and I think we'll be the two teams fighting for top spot in the group.

"When you don't know teams or players that well you don't always know what to expect in games. But that's why we have people at the club, who show us the videos before the game so we can work out exactly how they play.

"It's a very important part of our preparation - we need to know what to expect from the players we'll be up against because it's the small details that can make the difference."

The Serbia defender has also revealed that United's defeat in last season's Champions League Final to Barcelona is spurring them on this year.

He added: "It's a very bad feeling to get to a final and lose. I have bad memories (of Rome) and none of us want to experience that again.

"We know we need to be stronger and make sure it doesn't happen again.

"You need to train hard and make sure you are ready for the big games when they come round."
