Real deny fresh Ron reports

Real Madrid have taken the unusual step of releasing an official statement to deny a fresh wave of reports claiming they have agreed a deal to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United.

In recent days, several media reports have suggested that the Spanish giants have already agreed a deal to sign the Portugal winger in the summer.

Ronaldo was at the centre of a bitter transfer tug-of-war last summer which ended with the Old Trafford club reporting their Spanish rivals to FIFA.

United were furious with Real's public courtship of the 24-year-old winger and the relationship between the two clubs became seriously strained.

But following the latest suggestions that Ronaldo is on his way to the Santiago Bernebeu in the summer, Real have moved swiftly to dampen down the speculation.

"In relation to the reports that have appeared in several media in the last few hours regarding the alleged signing of the Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo, the club want to categorically deny said information," read the club statement.

"There exists no pre-agreement, neither with the player, nor with his agent, nor with Manchester United.

"As is well known, Real Madrid tried to sign the player last summer and Manchester United made it clear that the player was not transferable."
