Quintet to miss Moscow match
19 Oct 2009 - 15:11:53
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he will be without five first-team regulars when his side faces CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney, Patrice Evra, Ji-sung Park and Darren Fletcher all failed to recover from injuries in time to fly to the Russian capital.
Ferguson had said after Saturday's 2-1 win against Bolton Wanderers: "Ryan Giggs has got a knock and is a doubt.
"We've got to try and get Wayne Rooney ready for Wednesday but we'll see him on Sunday (against Liverpool). We'll have to look at Patrice Evra, he may be a doubt."
Park is being rested as a precaution because of his ongoing knee problem, while Ferguson said of Dimitar Berbatov: "I think he'll be all right.
"I'm hopeful Vidic will be all right, but he'll certainly be ready for the Liverpool game."
United are in control of Group B after beating Besiktas and Wolfsburg in their first two matches while CSKA lost to the German champions 3-1 before claiming a 2-1 victory against Besiktas.
