Perez re-opens Ronaldo chase
04 Jun 2009 - 12:04:20
Returning Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has voiced his hope of being able to sign both Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo.
AC Milan ace Kaka seems likely to seal a move to the Bernabeu in the next few days, while Perez also believes that he has a chance of finally prising Ronaldo away from Manchester United.
He told Antena 3: "What I want is for many of the best players in the world to play with us, Cristiano Ronaldo would be one of them.
"I'm going to work so that Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo can be with Real Madrid."
Perez also maintained that his club are keen to try and bring midfielder Xabi Alonso back to Spain from Liverpool, adding: "As a fan, I would say that Xabi is a great player. I think he is the best passer of the ball in Europe.
"I would be happy to have him, but I cannot talk about the player without having spoken first to Rafa Benitez, as he is the one who needs to know that we are interested in his player."
That was not the end of Perez's talk of possible big-money recruits, as he carried on to speak of his admiration of Valencia striker David Villa and Atletico Madrid frontman Diego Forlan.
He concluded: "I like the two of them a lot, they are both great players.
"I cannot speak about signing them, but any president would like to see both of them playing in his team."
