Italian club Parma are keen to sign Manchester United striker Giuseppe Rossi on a permanent basis, following his superb loan spell.
The 20-year-old impressed in scoring nine goals in 20 appearances for Parma last season, helping the club avoid relegation from Serie A.
Now Parma president, Tommaso Ghirardi, is keen to bring Rossi back to the Ennio Tardini.
Ghirardi said: "We spoke with the player, with the Manchester United chief executive David Gill and with Sir Alex Ferguson, too. Now it's up to them to give us an answer.
"Certainly, it would be really difficult to keep the player, but we believe in this.
"From a financial point of view, we made our offer and I think it completely answers Manchester United's expectations."
