    O'Shea to pen new deal

    19 Nov 2007 - 10:50:59

Manchester United defender John O'Shea has confirmed that he is close to penning a new long-term contract with the club.

The Republic of Ireland international is keen to spend his entire career at Old Trafford, following in the footsteps of team-mates Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs.

"I have this season and the next on my current contract, but I'm very close to signing a new deal that will keep me at United into my 30s," said the 26-year-old.

"It is something I want to do. I want to stay here, everything is good and this is where I want to be. I have never looked to go elsewhere."

O'Shea, who made his United debut in the Carling Cup defeat at Aston Villa in October 1999, has made 262 appearances for United.

He also played 11 games for Bournemouth during a loan spell at Dean Court in the 1999-2000 campaign and 13 matches for Royal Antwerp in the following season.
