O'Shea concern for United
08 Sep 2009 - 07:37:54
Manchester United defender John O'Shea could be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a calf muscle injury picked up while on international duty.
The versatile defender has been sent home from the Republic of Ireland camp following Saturday's World Cup qualifying victory over Cyprus for scans on the injury.
O'Shea has featured in all four of United's Premier League games this season amid a defensive injury crisis at Old Trafford.
"Today he could not play because he had a bleed on the calf. He couldn't run," revealed Ireland coach Giovanni Trapattoni.
"I told him to be careful because when you pull that muscle, it is two months.
"It was not just for me, it was also for the club he must decide."
