Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson accepted that Arsenal were good value for their 1-0 win at Old Trafford, having seen his side's 100 per cent record disappear.
A goal from Emmaunuel Adebayor with just four minutes left on the clock settled the issue and Ferguson admitted that the visitors had performed better on the day.
He said: "Arsenal deserved to win the match. We had good chances, but we didn't do enough.
"It was a disappointing result but not a bad performance. Arsenal played better and deserved to win, they were very strong late on.
"Cristiano Ronaldo lost the ball for the goal, but he was trying to make things happen when he did. These things happen in football.
"We are not a team in transition. We are a big club who want to win championships.
"There is great potential in this team. I strongly believe in the quality of the players and results like this have to help."
