No Berbatov return for United
03 Apr 2009 - 13:57:26
Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has been ruled out for a further two weeks with an ankle injury.
The Bulgaria striker missed his country's recent World Cup qualifying double-header against the Republic of Ireland and Cyprus after picking up the injury in the 2-0 defeat at Fulham two weeks ago.
United were hopeful that a period of intensive treatment would result in Berbatov being fit for Sunday's Premier League clash with Aston Villa.
But manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that the visit of the Midlands club will come too soon for Berbatov.
"It's probably going to be another two weeks," he said. "Hopefully he will be back training with us at the end of next week and he will be okay after that."
Meanwhile, Ferguson is keeping his fingers crossed that Carlos Tevez returns from international duty with Argentina free from injury.
Fellow striker Wayne Rooney has already been ruled out of the Villa game through suspension following his red card at Fulham.
In a light-hearted reference to Tevez returning from South America, he joked: "I think he (Tevez) gets back from Mars about 4pm.
"With Dimitar out and Wayne suspended hopefully Carlos will be okay.
"That will give us one striker, then we will have to choose another."
