New contract for van der Sar
12 Dec 2008 - 10:15:03
Veteran Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has penned a new one-year contract with the club.
The 38-year-old Dutch shot-stopper will now remain at Old Trafford until the end of next season.
Van der Sar's representative Rob Jansen told ANP: "Manchester United will make it known officially on Friday.
"We have already been in talks about a new contract for a couple of weeks.
"Now we have reached an agreement. It is for one year. What will happen after that, I don't know."
Van der Sar joined United in a £5million deal in 2005 and has made 161 first-team appearances for the club.
Meanwhile, Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that Michael Carrick and Dimitar Berbatov could miss Saturday's trip to Tottenham, although Cristiano Ronaldo may return after missing Wednesday's 2-2 draw with Aalborg because of a hip injury.
"Berbatov and Carrick are the main worries," Ferguson confirmed to the club's official website.
"I'm sure Ronaldo will be okay. His hip is still a bit tender, but hopefully he'll be back."
