Neville praise for away day Berbatov

Dimitar Berbatov has been Manchester United's key figure away from home in March. The Bulgarian striker has been overlooked for the starting XI glamour Old Trafford games against AC Milan and Liverpool. Instead he has been chosen as the lone spearhead in the only two matches away from home during the critical run-in month. For a player who has been questioned for his work rate, it would appear to have been a gamble to ask him to put in a stint at Molineux and the Reebok. When you are being asked to step into such potentially tough away fixtures to replace on-fire Wayne Rooney, you are on a hiding to nothing. But United's £30.75m club record buy has won new admirers for his efforts. At Wolves he led the line without Rooney and was a man of the match contender. On Saturday at Bolton, again without United's 33-goal leading scorer Rooney, he fought a lone battle and scored twice. His Reds colleagues are certainly not new admirers but Gary Neville sang his praises at the Reebok. "Dimitar Berbatov was outstanding. He won us the match," said United's captain. "Dimitar's performances in the wins against Wolves and Bolton have showed fantastic determination. He played up there on his own in both games and running the line he was a massive presence for us against Bolton and the same at Wolves. "It was really important. It has been important that when Wayne has not been playing, Dimitar has been outstanding." With six games to go United are in the box seat on points but Chelsea, who come to Old Trafford on Saturday lunch time for a title battle royal, have forged ahead in the back up goal difference department. Favour "It is quite a title race. It has not been like this for a while where three teams have been at it this close to the end. It is all to play for," added Gary. "We have a big game next Saturday. We could do ourselves a big favour, but so could Chelsea. And Arsenal will be looking for a draw from that game. "We knew going into the Bolton match we had a five-game period where it is all to play for. We need our squad and we are going to need a high level of performance. "These are the crucial months and games. Any game you lose matters. We have to make sure we are highly focused, we are concentrated and we perform. "The league could be very tight. Over the years it has never gone down to goal difference but you just never know what is going to happen. It may be the deciding factor. Chelsea getting seven has put them in a good position. We have also done really well. "I knew Chelsea were winning. I think 5-1 was the last we heard but I didn't know they had won seven until after our game. It was surprising because Aston Villa have been so good defensively this season. We expected Chelsea to win but maybe not seven. "We are in a position where goals don't have to matter. But you have to be conscious that you have to score as many as you can, particularly when you are winning. Never let up, it can be important. "We enjoy this time of the season. We are in the simplest position. If we win our matches we are okay. We are not waiting on anyone else." Would you like to see Berbatov start against Bayern Munich? Have your say.
