Neville close to return
11 Sep 2007 - 09:57:17
Manchester United captain Gary Neville insists he is close to a return to first-team action although Saturday's Premier League clash with Everton may come too soon for him.
The 32-year-old has been troubled by injuries for much of 2007 and has not played since the 4-1 win against Bolton almost six months ago.
He damaged ankle ligaments in March, before suffering a thigh strain in training last month.
The England international defender told MUTV: "I probably did a bit too much, I was a bit over-excited getting back and I just felt my thigh a little bit. It's frustrating.
"Hopefully in the next week or two I'll be back and I hope to be playing games in the next couple of weeks definitely.
"Because I've been out for such a long time I think the Everton game is going to be too soon, I think it will probably be after that."
It is expected that Neville will make his comeback in the crunch Premier League clash with Chelsea on September 23.
