Nemanja Vidic may return for Man Utd; Sunderland wait on Johnson and Rose
Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic could make his return from injury in Saturday's Premier League game against Sunderland.
Vidic has not played since September after undergoing knee surgery, but may come straight back into the team in place of Jonny Evans, who picked up a hamstring injury against Manchester City. Antonio Valencia returned from injury in the 3-2 win at the Etihad Stadium, but fellow winger Nani and Brazilian midfielder Anderson are still sidelined. Goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard is also available again after missing the derby triumph to attend the birth of his son, but David de Gea may keep his place. Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill could be forced into two changes for the game at Old Trafford. Winger Adam Johnson (dead leg) and defender Danny Rose (ankle), who both started in Tuesday's 3-0 win over Reading, could miss out after picking up injuries during the re-arranged match at the Stadium of Light. Defender Phil Bardsley and skipper Lee Cattermole (both knee ligaments) are not in contention while O'Neill is hopeful frontman Steven Fletcher can shake off a niggle with his ankle.
