Nemanja Vidic Confirms He Will Leave Manchester United
Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has confirmed that he will ‘move on’ from Old Trafford this summer and potentially join Inter Milan on a two year contract. “It’s the last year of my contract and I have had eight wonderful years here,” Vidic said. “My time at this great club will always rank as the best years of my career. However, I have decided that I will move on at the end of this season. I want to challenge myself again and try to make the best of myself in the coming years.’’ With his current contract running out in June of this year, the Serbian was not offered a new deal and is said to be incensed with the champions over this.
It was initially believed that Vidic would be offered at least a one year contract by the champions but this never materialized and the 32-year-old will not be a part of David Moyes’s plans for next season.
After signing from Spartak Moscow for just £7m back in January 2007, Vidic has played a pivotal role in United's defence alongside Rio Ferdinand, for the most part. However this season, the champions defence has looked far from impressive, and reinforcements are imminent in the summer. It is also tipped that Ferdinand and Evra will depart in the summer along with Vidic.
The current United captain is said to be keen on a move to Italy, with Inter Milan seemingly being his destination, after they offered him a two-year contract worth £50,000-a-week.
Juventus, Monaco and Galatasary are also keen on securing the Serbian centre-half’s signature although Vidic has said that he will not play in England again after this season ends, "I’m not considering staying in England as the only club I ever wanted to play for here is Manchester United and I was lucky enough to be part of this club for so many years. I’ve got a few options to move on and I will choose the right one for me and for my family."
