Manchester United have received mixed injury news ahead of Saturday's visit of
West ham United after Wayne Rooney was passed fit but Nemanja Vidic was ruled out.
The Serbia defender will miss the lunchtime encounter with the same head injury which forced him to sit out the midweek Champions League semi-final victory over Barcelona.
Vidic required stitches in a facial would and suffered concussion after taking an accidental blow to the head from the knee of Didier Drogba during last weekend's 2-1 defeat at Chelsea.
However, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson does expect to have Rooney available for a match which could see them the Red Devils three points clear of second-placed Chelsea at the top of the table.
The England striker aggravated a hip problem at Stamford Bridge and also missed the midweek European tie.
"Wayne may be on the bench," revealed Ferguson. "But we've got a major (Champions League) Final to think about and we're not going to rush him.
"We need to make sure he's 100 per cent when he does play."
