Manchester United target Yohan Cabaye to PSG for 22 million
Reports have surfaced in France that the 28-year-old Newcastle United talisman is set for a move home to France. Paris Saint-Germain are said to have already agreed a fee of £22million for the services of the midfield playmaker according to French television station Canal+ as reported in the Guardian. Despite being denied a dream move to Arsenal last summer the player has played some sensational football this season and provided a stat that Newcastle haven’t won a game without him.
The deal however will not be completed until Alan Pardew has found a suitable like-for-like replacement which the Guardian suggests is Remy Cabella of Montpelier. The news of the agreement with PSG will be disappointing for David Moyes who was believed to be interested in bringing Cabaye to Manchester United says the report.
News of the deal with PSG comes after a sensational performance as Newcastle beat West Ham 3-1. Cabaye scored a brace in possibly his best game in a black and white shirt. Cabaye’s all round game was excellent, demonstrating dead-ball skill, link play and mercurial ability. It has to be said that if the reported deal with PSG fall’s through that there will be no shortage of admirers wanting to gain his services in the coming months if not weeks.
Cabaye started his professional career at Lille where he made 253 appearances, scoring 39 times and making 35 assists. Newcastle was his next club and joined in the 2011-12 season and has since gone on to make 93 appearances, scoring 18 goals and making 15 assists.
As an international Yohan Cabaye has only made 26 appearances but was part of the side which staged the remarkable comeback in the World Cup play-off against Ukraine, helping them qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
