Manchester United great Paul Scholes admits: The joy of winning trophies drives me forward

Manchester United's midfield great Paul Scholes insists it is the prospect of winning more silverware that drives him on. The 35-year-old has won nine Premier League titles with United, and the champions are chasing their fourth successive championship this season. Scholes said: 'Three in a row was a big achievement and now we want to go one step further. Crucial goal: Paul Scholes scores United's winner at Wolves earlier this month 'But the chance to make history doesn't drive me - I just want to win every game and hopefully win every trophy, whether it's the first time I've won it or the 10th. 'The aim each year is to win the league. If that means making history then terrific - if not, so be it.' United face a huge fortnight in their season as they chase glory at home and abroad. Sir Alex Ferguson's men visit Bolton on Saturday, before taking on Bayern Munich in Germany next Tuesday. After that comes the crucial clash with title rivals Chelsea at Old Trafford on Easter Saturday, followed by the return match with Bayern four days later. Chasing honours: Scholes has already won nine titles with Manchester United Scholes hopes United's experience can prove the difference as they battle Chelsea and Arsenal for the title. He told the Manchester Evening News: 'Maybe that experience will help us, maybe we know what it takes to win the league. 'But every season throws up new twists and new challenges - all we can do is hope we react to those challenges in the right way. 'The game against Chelsea is going to be massive and we know we need to win that one.
