Manchester United deal for Zaha imminent after Twitter announcement
Wilfried Zaha may have inadvertently announced his transfer to Manchester United on Twitter.
He wrote 'Looks like i'm on my way to the top of the premier league' on his account, but then quickly deleted the message.
The Crystal Palace winger, who is reportedly on the verge of a £15m move to Old Trafford, then backtracked on his tweet some hours later.
He posted: 'I don't remember tweeting no such thing so I don't know where the tweet came from #confused'.
It came as his manager Ian Holloway said the Barclays Premier League leaders would not only have to pay £15m plus add-ons, but also loan Zaha back to Selhurst Park for the rest of the season.
He also hinted that the move was imminent, saying it must be hard for the 20-year-old starlet to sleep at night knowing his 'dream move' is so close.
Sir Alex Ferguson is known to be keeping a close eye on the form of the England under 21 winger and a move for him now seems a matter of time.
But Holloway, writing in his Sunday Mirror column, said his 'hero' still has 'his feet firmly planted on planet Earth.'
He said: 'It's hard to feel sorry for Wilfried Zaha - but I do.
'Wilf is a 20-year-old with the world at his feet. He is a hero at Crystal Palace. He is also a bloody great fella, with a personality to match his talent.
'I felt it necessary to have a chat with Wilfried this week about what might happen and what definitely won't be happening.
'Even if we do reach an agreement with a club, it would have to include a clause that Zaha stays put for the rest of the season.
'His feet are still planted on planet Earth. But it can't be easy to sleep at night when you know how close your dream is.'
Zaha has been in excellent form this season, scoring five goals in 28 matches, and has attracted attention from a number of big clubs.
