Man Utd's Cleverley out for four weeks
Published : 11 Sep 2011 18:30:08
Cleverley, who has been in outstanding form for the Premier League champions, was forced off in the first half at the Reebok Stadium following a fierce challenge from Bolton striker Kevin Davies.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson initially feared Cleverley may have broken a bone in his foot, which would have kept him out for several months, but scans on Sunday showed that the damage isn't as bad as first thought.
While Cleverley will be back by mid-October, the 22-year-old, who was included in the England squad for recent Euro 2012 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Wales, is likely to miss his country's crucial clash against Montenegro next month.
Ferguson also admitted United's medical team will assess French left-back Patrice Evra and Northern Ireland defender Jonny Evans ahead of the midweek Champions League trip to Benfica after the pair suffered injuries at Bolton.
"We'll see them on Sunday," Ferguson told MUTV. "Jonny is doubtful for Wednesday - he got a knee in the hip in the second half which was pretty painful, while Patrice got a kick on the kneecap.
"We'll have a look at them on Sunday - it's too early to say (how serious the injuries are)."
