Half time update from Old Trafford

10 min Van persie from RHS side on to goal tries a first time lob from ball that dropped from over his shoulder.11min Nani sets up RVP only for Soton keeper to save a low first time shot.17 min Some neat Soton interchanges in final third but United looking resolute.Easy to see why Soton are where they are in the table. They are taking it to United.Fellaini struggling to impose himself on the game.24 min Januzaj finds Evra on the six yard box with an exquisite through ball cum cross but Evra is marginally offside.24 mins RVPopens the scoring from a Rooney rebound skipping past the defender and the keeper in one fell swoop before slotting into the far corner past the outstretched dive of a defender. Januzaj had provided a superb through ball from the half way to find Rooney initially.26 mins Rooney thunders a shot off the cross bar from 12 yards.32 mins Fellaini the culprit for at least 4 pieces of possession squandered in his own half at this stage.37 mins Despite Fellaini struggling, Utd look like they have the more potent creative spark at this stage in the game. Rooney and Van Persie could prove to be the difference. Its looking more promising than the lethargy showed against West Brom at Old Trafford a couple of weeks ago.37 mins Januzaj skips past 2 Soton players before the second, Schneiderlin, brings him down. He has been relatively quiet but his quality is apparent every time he gets on the ball.Despite United edging the game on sharpness and creativity, Fellaini looking over-ran at times in midfield area.45 mins Fellaini mistake means RVP gives away free kick on edge of the box. Thankfully wall does its job superbly rising to block the free kick.Half time- possession is close 51% to 49% in Uniteds favour.Utd's passing shading it on the pass accuracy too with 81% to 78% in their favour.I'm thinking there are more goals in this for United in the second half if they don't decide to shut up shop. Mad prediction: 3-1 to United.
