Man United 'agree' staggering weekly terms over Vidal: Reports

No sooner as the deal appears dead in the water with deadlines passing for the transfer to be done it appears the negotiations are once more back on the agenda, resurrected at the last.

Italian newspaper La Stampa have claimed that Vidal’s agent Fernando Felicevich has spoken with United and agreed in principle on personal terms for the player. A deal would earn Vidal an astonishing £182,000-a-week. Whilst clearly that is not a done deal it does mean that the Premier League club can begin talks with Juventus to firm up an official offer if the reports are accurate.

Despite all the false dawns and talk it appears there is a way to go to firm-up any swoop for a player that so impresses United and so fits the model of the hard-tackling, box-to-box ‘warrior’ so revered at United.

The Chile manager has suggested that the on-off nature of negotiations for the player was down to Van Gaal who the national manager suggested was reluctant to move ahead with an official move for the 27-year-old due to a concern over a knee injury according to reports.

The report in the Independent claims Juventus are entertaining bids for their star player in the region of £47m. All of the noises from the Manchester contract team suggests that if a world-record fee was required to get van Gaals preferred player then that is what would be paid but £47m isn’t such a significant figure for the Old Trafford chiefs.

The player himself will be encouraged by the direction of the team which clearly has a much better balance than last term going by their recent friendly performances. Despite the rare lack of Champions League football for Man United they will be challenging on several fronts for silverwear and with something to prove.
