Life begins at 40: could David Beckham join an exclusive club?
David Beckham plays his last competitive game for the LA Galaxy at the weekend when he hopes to bow out an MLS Cup Final winner.
He’s been plotting his next career challenge for some time, but has so far given little away – although Harry Redknapp could entice him to his new club QPR.
Becks (37) would no doubt fancy another crack at the Premier League and LA teammate Robbie Keane reckons his Stateside pal could play at the highest level until he’s 40.
The Irishman, who would also welcome a return to the top flight in England, says: “He definitely has a few years left in him.
“His ability on the ball is still the best I have seen. His passing is ridiculous. He still has the hunger, and the quality, to play at the highest level.”
Only two outfield players have performed at Premier League level after turning 40 – Teddy Sheringham and Gordon Strachan.
