Manchester United could keep veteran Swedish striker Henrik Larsson beyond March, according to Helsingborgs chairman Sten-Inge Fredin.
The former Celtic and Barcelona star is currently on loan at Old Trafford from Helsinborgs, but is due to return to Sweden when their domestic season starts.
But Fredin has opened the way for the 35-year-old to extend his stay with Sir Alex Ferguson's side, telling Sky Sports News: "It's up to Manchester.
"If he wants to stay then we'll open that discussion with United. We will not stand in his way.
"I think he's got another two or three years at the top level. He is unique for his age.
"He is one of the few players who could go and play well for any team."
Larsson marked his Red Devils debut with a goal in Sunday's FA Cup third round win against Aston Villa.
