Lack of respect hurts Tevez
16 May 2009 - 11:49:40
Carlos Tevez has accused Manchester United of a lack of respect over their handling of his Old Trafford future.
The Argentina striker has conceded he is likely to leave United when his two-year loan contract with Sir Alex Ferguson's side expires at the end of the season.
Tevez has continually talked of his desire to remain with the Red Devils, but the club has yet to agree terms with his third-party owners, led by agent Kia Joorabchian, to retain his services.
United and Joorabchian have been in disagreement this week over whether or not they have tabled an formal offer for the 25-year-old fans' favourite.
But whether he ultimately stays with the club or moves on in the summer, Tevez has been hurt by the whole saga.
"Things have happened and, when the league ends, I will see where I go," he admitted.
"I feel a lot of pain to have to leave Manchester United because of the fans. It's hard for me to accept this.
"Each day that goes by is more difficult for me because I know that I am not going to play at the club anymore.
"They say to people that I am about to sign a new contract, but that never happens. I have not been respected.
"I have never asked (Sir Alex) Ferguson for an explanation, but a player notices when he is not part of a team anymore.
"I am surprised, but I am calm. You notice when you have to leave a club."
Meanwhile, Tevez has revealed his desire to remain in England should he leave United.
Both Liverpool and Manchester City have been mentioned as possible destinations if he stays in the Premier League.
"My priority is to remain in the Premier League because this is the most competitive league in the world, despite that I know that there is interest from Spain and Italy," he added.
One such club is Real Madrid whose sporting director, Predrag Mijatovic, claims to have contacted Tevez's representatives four months ago to discuss a potential summer move to Spain.
