Jose Mourinho, the 11m manager who the Premier League cant afford
Published: 28 Mar 2010 - 11:16:24
Jose Mourinho could be pricing himself out of his ambition to return to Premier League management. The Inter Milan manager is understood to be earning £11million ayear net at the San Siro Stadium - more than twice the wages ofBritain's highest earner, Sir Alex Ferguson. Earning Mour than you: Mourinho (left) earns twice as much as Sir Alex Ferguson It means that the charismatic Portuguese would have to take a massive cut if he wants to succeed Ferguson at Manchester United, although he would earn so much from his contract at Inter, which ends in 2012, that such a deficit may not matter. Having already turned down the chance to join Manchester City, only a massive offer from Real Madrid this summer could possibly divert him from his main target. He would have to ditch a long-held ideal to honour every contract he signs to move to Spain.
