Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes will miss Tuesday's Champions League match against Dynamo Kyiv after picking up a knee injury in training.
It is the latest blow for United boss Sir Alex Ferguson who has already lost two central midfielders - Michael Carrick and Owen Hargreaves - to injury.
Ferguson told United's official website: "Paul Scholes will miss the match. He picked up a knee injury in training.
"He'll be scanned when we get home. It's unfortunate but these things happen. I'm confident we've got enough experience to cope tonight."
Darren Fletcher, who played for Scotland last week in his first game following injury, is expected to come in for Scholes.
In better news for Ferguson, Nemanja Vidic has been passed fit to play in Ukraine.
The 26-year-old had been troubled by the after-effects of the concussion he suffered against Wigan Athletic earlier this month but United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been pleased with the defender's recovery.
"There won't be many changes from Saturday. Vidic will come in and we may make one other change, but that's all," added the veteran boss.
