Sir Alex Ferguson has added to growing concern that Rio Ferdinand's World Cup place may be in doubt by admitting that the Manchester United defender is not winning his battle against a back problem. The United manager, preparing for Sunday's trip to Hull, admitted that there was no sign of an imminent comeback for the 31-year-old England defender. He gets his core work done in the gymnasium and we gave him an injection just over two weeks ago, so we had to let that settle for a week. 'He did nothing for a week and then got back into the gym work and we are just hoping the pain goes away.'
