How Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez combined at Manchester United

Tevez spent two successful seasons at Manchester United helping the club achieve back-to-back Premier League titles, the Champions League and League Cup. While Sir Alex Ferguson was reluctant to pair the two tenacious strikers alongside each other, United won 17 of the 25 Premier League games and only lost twice when both started on the pitch producing a 68 per cent win return. Of the 51 games the pair did not start together, United won 38 Premier League matches, reaping a 75 per cent win return. The duo, however, did produce more goals for United when both started, averaging 2.20 goals a game compared to 1.82 goals when either one or neither of them lined-up for Ferguson's team.
