Have Your Say

THE talking is nearly over for City and United and the Premiership kicks off in three days' time - but who has won the marketing match of the day? You can give their verdict on the PR battle between the Reds and the Blues in a new online debating forum launched today by the Manchester Evening News. Thousands of readers have posted comments on our website in response to stories and articles by MEN reporters and writers - and now we are throwing open the doors to all comers. A new section - titled Have Your Say - will see panellists and experts from all walks of life in Greater Manchester give their views on a particular question or issue. Readers can then post their own comments in response and help shape the ongoing debate. The first debating forum is called Media Citizens and is focused on the city's vibrant PR, advertising and marketing industry. Media Citizens is just the first forum to appear in Have Your Say, and other areas will follow. Have Your Say will set out to be the online voice of Greater Manchester. For the opening debate, we have invited two leading voices from Manchester's media community to write about the publicity battle between United and City over the past few weeks. After a summer of headline grabbing transfers, cheeky advertising hoardings and high profile kit launches, have the Blues made progress in establishing themselves as a global brand to rival the Reds? Or will Eastlands always be home to the second most famous club in Greater Manchester? Brian Beech, Joint MD of Euro RSCG Biss Lancaster - one of the UK's biggest PR agencies - and Andy Spinoza, MD of award winning digital communications agency SKV have both posted their views. You can see what they have written by going to our website and also read their posts in the Media section of Thursday's business supplement inside the paper edition of the Manchester Evening News. And after reading their contrasting opinions, why not join the debate?
