Have Manchester United increased their chances of landing Cristiano Ronaldo this summer?

Manchester United have stepped up their efforts to make Cristiano Ronaldo their signing of the summer, according to The Sun.

The Red Devils are convinced they can take advantage of the uncertainty at Real Madrid to bring him back 'home' to Old Trafford this summer.

They are prepared to offer £65million plus a player - rumored to be Luis Nani -  to land the superstar, 28, who is still a hero with the United faithful.

Ronaldo turned down offers from Real Madrid to sign a new deal  but Real will not give up trying to keep him.

However, the Spanish giants have already made contingency plans to bring in Gareth Bale from Tottenham in a switch worth £80m, if Ronaldo is to leave.

Ronaldo has put his house up for sale in Madrid and did not play in Real’s final game of the season after falling out with departing manager Jose Mourinho.

United have made contact with his representatives, whilst Nike are also rumored to be in on the deal.
