Manchester United have been linked with a summer swoop for Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole. The 28-year-old England play maker's contract talks have stalled at Stamford Bridge, and Sir Alex Ferguson could be ready to step in, report the Daily Express. With Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs nearing the end of their careers, United are on the look out for a creative spark from midfield. Cole would a be a free agent in the summer if his contract is not renewed. He has started just nine games under boss Carlo Ancelotti and been hauled off in six of those. Chelsea, while not publicly commenting on the suggestion that Cole will head for Old Trafford in the summer, were bullish enough to privately dismiss the prospect as nothing more than speculation.
