Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been told by the Glazer family that he will receive all the financial support he needs as he bids to win this season's Premiership title.
Reports suggested that Ferguson had been told he would have only £25million to spend on new players each year, but the Glazer family have moved quickly to refute the reports.
A spokesman for the family said: "Manchester United is the richest club in the world. If the manager feels the right player is available, Manchester United will always seek to secure him."
Ferguson's only major summer signing was Michael Carrick from Tottenham while he recently snapped up Henrik Larsson on a ten-week loan deal from Helsingborgs.
He has been linked with a January transfer window move for Southampton's promising young full-back Gareth Bale as United aim to end Chelsea's recent dominance of domestic football.
