Giggs on the mend

Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs has resumed light training as he begins his comeback from his latest hamstring injury.

The Wales international picked up the Premiership player of the month award for August after a series of stunning displays, but damaged his right hamstring during United's 3-2 Champions League victory against Celtic a fortnight ago.

Sir Alex Ferguson's men have struggled in Giggs' absence - losing to Arsenal and drawing with Reading - but he is at least on course to return for the trip to Wigan Athletic on October 14.

The 32-year-old told MUTV: "Things are going okay.

"I did some light jogging for the first time on Sunday. All I can do now is wait and see how the injury progresses."
