    Giggs hails Larsson coup

    22 Dec 2006 - 08:05:26

Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs believes the arrival of Henrik Larsson will provide the perfect mid-season boost for the Red Devils.

The 35-year-old former Celtic and Barcelona striker will spend two months at Old Trafford on loan from Helsingborgs before returning to Sweden in March.

Giggs believes Larsson will provide United boss Sir Alex Ferguson with further attacking options during the tricky second half of the campaign as the Red Devils look to wrest the title away from Chelsea's grasp.

"It's a great addition, not just for his playing ability and what he is going to give us but also for the young lads," Giggs told MUTV.

"He is such an experienced player who has won so much. He gives us an option. Maybe we would have been a bit short at centre-forward if Louis or Wayne were to get injured.

"And he has shown in the Champions League his ability to come off the bench and make an impact."

Meanwhile, reports have suggested Ferguson will be given a £50million transfer kitty by club owners the Glazer family in the new year.
