Giggs enjoying coaching role

Ryan Giggs is enjoying his new player-coach role at Manchester United, even though the team's results this season have not been as good as he would have hoped.

The 39-year-old Welsh midfielder, who has spent his entire career at United, was appointed to David Moyes' backroom staff after the Scot became Red Devils boss over the summer.

So far in the 2013-14 season, United have won only three of their seven Barclays Premier League games, drawn one and lost three, including a 4-1 derby defeat at Manchester City and 2-1 home reverse against West Brom.

Giggs has been linked with the Wales national team manager's job - currently occupied by Chris Coleman - but regarding his present position, he told the Manchester Evening News: "I am enjoying my coaching role at Manchester United - it has been great.

"It hasn't yet got to the point when I go into the dressing room and everything falls quiet.

"But education is the next step in my career and I'm enjoying it. I am enjoying working with the new manager.

"Personally, I would prefer better results but we are only seven or eight games into the season."
