Fresh Owen blow for United
11 Jan 2008 - 14:53:30
Manchester United look set to be without Owen Hargreaves for Saturday's visit of Newcastle United to Old Trafford.
The injury-plagued England midfielder damaged ribs in training and is unlikely to be risked against the Magpies.
Hargreaves has started just ten games following his £17million arrival from Bayern Munich in the summer.
"Owen got a knock in training in the ribs and is doubtful for Saturday," United boss Sir Alex Ferguson told the club's official website.
"The number of training injuries we've had is amazing."
Meanwhile, Louis Saha is a major doubt after the striker also picked up a knock in the build-up to the 5.15pm kick-off on Saturday.
"Louis got a knock in training, but hopefully he'll be okay - we're going to have a look at him later," added Ferguson.
Captain Gary Neville is unlikely to make his first start in almost 11 months after reporting discomfort in his hamstring during a reserve team outing in midweek.
"Gary's hamstring was a bit tight at half-time in the reserves game the other night," revealed the United boss.
"The weather conditions were appalling and the pitch was very heavy so we decided to take him off. Nevertheless, it was a good start for him."
