England goalkeeper Ben Foster is targeting regular first-team football next season to secure his Three Lions spot ahead of the World Cup finals. The 25-year-old has found his opportunities at Manchester United limited this term due to the outstanding form of Edwin van der Sar. But the shot-stopper has recently had two highs - first starring in United's Carling Cup triumph a month ago before playing in the second half of England's friendly win over Slovakia on Saturday. Foster is now targeting further success in the coming season - but knows he needs regular first-team football. He told the FA's official website: "It's a nice feeling just to be involved. I need to be playing football now, regular first-team football is a must. Big season "It's going to be a big season for me next year." Reflecting on his England cap, he added: "It was a great occasion for me. Any game I play this season has been a bonus, there haven't been that many coming my way. "The fact that I've played two games at Wembley, one for my country and one in a cup final, is fantastic for me this season. "It was a bit out of the blue to get called up and then to play some part in the game as well. "It was a great performance and result, and I was glad to be part of it." Foster has recovered from a serious knee injury to earn his cap against Slovakia, which came two years after his debut. Belief He added: "You can't lose belief, I've had a few injuries but once you are back to full fitness you want to push into your team and then England. "I thought I would get that." Foster praised his United team-mate Wayne Rooney, who netted twice against the Slovakians. "He was fantastic, from the first minute he was putting so much hard work in," said Foster.
