Foster dreams of World Cup berth after putting down marker for United

Published: 15 Sep 2009 - 12:36:19

Ben Foster has got a taste for first-team football at Manchester United and is in no mood to hand back his place to Edwin van der Sar. The 26-year-old has started in each of his club's six matches this season as Holland international recovers from a hand injury. And Foster hopes his stint between the posts has not gone unnoticed by England manager Fabio Capello as the Italian starts to think about his squad for next summer's World Cup. "I've really enjoyed being involved so far - it's what I've wanted," said Foster. "When you have a solid run in the team you can look forward to games in advance and settle down a bit more. "I'm happy with what I've done so far and hopefully there's more to come. "Obviously, the World Cup is in sight at the end of the season and it's therefore important that I do well in any games I play. "I've started the season reasonably well and played every game so far, and long may it continue."
