Fletcher: United prepared for Rome

Published: 25 May 2009 - 07:47:00

Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher has backed the rest of the club's senior stars to go on and win the Champions League without him. Fletcher must sit out Wednesday's showpiece final against Barcelona in Rome through suspension after his sending-off in the semi-final against Arsenal. The Scotland international concluded his United duties for the season by lending his experience to an under-strength side in Sunday`s 1-0 win at Hull. Fletcher said: "I think it's good to be going into the Champions League final with a bit of rest, it's been a long season. "The lads have rested up and hopefully they'll be ready to go against Barcelona. "I will travel, I'll travel as a fan. I'll be like all the rest of the United fans, cheering the lads on, hoping we win the trophy."
