Ferguson won't risk Evra
20 Oct 2008 - 15:55:53
Patrice Evra has joined the list of Manchester United players that will miss Tuesday's Champions League clash against Celtic.
The Frenchman limped out of Saturday's 4-0 win over West Brom with a hamstring strain and, despite taking part in a light training session on Monday, will not be risked by United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
Paul Scholes (knee), Owen Hargreaves (tendonitis) and Michael Carrick (foot) already knew they would miss the game against last season's SPL champions.
Ferguson said in the build-up to the match: "It's too big a risk with a hamstring injury, but Patrice should be OK for the Everton game on Saturday."
John O'Shea is expected to replace Evra at left-back after coming on as a substitute for the 27-year-old against Albion.
Ferguson is also unsure whether to start with Cristiano Ronaldo in his side against Celtic as he feels the Portugal international is still not fully-fit following ankle surgery.
Anderson and Carlos Tevez could return to the starting line-up after being rested for Saturday's win. They had long journeys back from Brazil and Argentina respectively following last week's South American World Cup qualifiers.
