    Ferguson named top boss

    13 May 2008 - 08:01:00

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been named as the LMA Manager of the Year, having guided the Red Devils to yet another Premier League title.

Ferguson also won the Premier League award, succeeding Reading's Steve Coppell.

The veteran Scotsman said of the honour: "It is a tremendous honour that my fellow managers and LMA members should deem me worthy of this award. I am very proud to receive it."

LMA chairman, Howard Wilkinson, added: "The awards recognise the achievements of the managers across the four top leagues in England.

"Recognition by your peers is an incredible privilege and this year's winners should be proud of their achievements.

"The LMA would like to congratulate all the managers for playing such an integral role in another fantastic season."

The Championship award went to West Bromwich Albion's Tony Mowbray, with Swansea City's Roberto Martinez taking the plaudits in League One.

The only award not to go to a manager whose side had won the title was the League Two prize, which was claimed by Hereford United's Graham Turner.
