Ferguson happy with a point
06 Nov 2008 - 07:56:28
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson was content with a point after seeing his side fight back to secure a 1-1 Champions League draw at Celtic.
The Red Devils needed a late Ryan Giggs header to rescue the game, having fallen behind just 13 minutes in to a Scott McDonald strike.
However, Ferguson was relatively pleased with the outcome, which could have been even better had Dimitar Berbatov not passed up an excellent chance in stoppage time.
"We want to win the group," Ferguson stated. "This result does no harm, of course. We didn't lose and the performance in the second half was the most encouraging thing.
"We deserved to get a point, but with minutes to go you think you are going to lose it, that it is not going to be your night.
"Losing the early goal set us back but that happens in football. It gave Celtic a boost and it gave the crowd a boost. You could say half-time came at a good time for us.
"We bring Berbatov on and it gave them another problem. The positions he picks up are very difficult to pinpoint.
"Also, the urgency of the team, knowing they were behind, came through."
