Ferguson eyeing title

Published: 03 May 2009 - 10:41:00

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson chalked off another victory as his side eased their way towards retaining the Barclays Premier League title. United established a six-point gap between themselves and closest challengers Liverpool as a result of their comfortable 2-0 win at Middlesbrough. With both sides having just four games left to play - the Reds face Newcastle at Anfield on Sunday - the reigning champions are firmly in pole position to lift the trophy once again. Ferguson told Sky Sports: "It's a big step forward. "I just keep saying that if you whittle the games away, eventually there are no games left, and hopefully we will still be at the top of the table when we get to that point. "It was a very good performance. They all worked their socks off and once we got a hold of the ball, we always looked a danger."
