Ferguson accepts FA action
21 Nov 2008 - 13:50:15
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has conceded he only has himself to blame after being fined and banned by the Football Association this week.
The veteran Scot was handed a two-match touchline ban and fined £10,000 following a disciplinary commission hearing into his improper conduct charge.
Ferguson was cited following his post-match rant at referee Mike Dean following his side's 4-3 Premier League victory over Hull City at Old Trafford last month.
It is the second time in as many seasons that Ferguson has been hit by a touchline ban, but the long-serving manager refused to criticse the FA for his latest punishment which will come into effect at Aston Villa on Saturday evening.
"It happens," he conceded. "It's my own fault. The (disciplinary) panel's job is not to consider the performance level of referees.
"You'll always get inconsistent decisions because every referee has their own opinions of things and his own judgement about things. That's one of the great things about our game.
"That hasn't changed from the day refereeing started."
