Ferguson: Big chance of title
04 May 2008 - 12:10:28
Sir Alex Ferguson believes Manchester United have a "big chance" of winning the Premier League title after their 4-1 victory over West Ham United.
The Red Devils moved three points clear of Chelsea at the top of the table after a comfortable victory in their penultimate league game and victory at Wigan Athletic next weekend will guarantee a second straight league crown.
Cristiano Ronaldo took his tally to 30 in the league alone with a first-half brace, while further strikes from former Hammers Carlos Tevez and Michael Carrick secured the points.
"It's been a great day for us and we've got a big chance," admitted Ferguson.
"There was a bit of nervousness in our play at times, but we killed the game in the second half to continue what has been a fantastic season so far."
Meanwhile, Ferguson has vowed to deal with Nani after the Portuguese winger was sent off in the latter stages of the first half for aiming at head-butt at Lucas Neill following a penalty area skirmish.
"The game was marred by immaturity from Nani, real immaturity," he blasted.
"He retaliated when he didn't need to and the referee didn't have any option but to send him off after he'd spoken to the linesman.
"He showed a measure of immaturity and we will deal with it."
