Fergie tips Bhoys to progress
15 Sep 2008 - 08:34:52
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson expects Celtic to join his team in the last 16 of the Champions League.
The two British clubs are joined by Aalborg and Villarreal in Group E of the competition and Ferguson is confident Gordon Strachan's side will win their way through to the knockout stages.
He said: "I think we are in a good group and I think that we have a good chance of qualifying.
"I always look at getting to ten points and you know you have qualified. Then you can look forward to February when it really starts to kick in.
"Celtic have a terrific chance. Their home record over the last few years gives them that chance, there is no question about that. I mean, they would probably come in the top four or five in Europe with their home record.
"Anyone going to Celtic Park has to beat the atmosphere and the energy they spend on their games. There are a lot of plus points for them in that way."
