Fergie targets fourth striker

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed his desire to sign another striker amid reports that he is close to landing Dimitar Berbatov from Tottenham Hotspur.
Speaking in the club's matchday programme ahead of Sunday's season-opening clash with Newcastle United, the United chief revealed his desire to add another frontman to his squad.
Ferguson has just three out-and-out established strikers in Wayne Rooney, Carlos Tevez and Louis Saha currently in his ranks.
The veteran Scot would like to return to the four-man system of Andre Cole, Dwight Yorke, Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer which secured a historic Treble in 1999.
Berbatov, 27, is believed to have submitted a transfer request at Spurs in a bid to force through his move to Old Trafford.
"We are working on bringing in another top striker," Ferguson told United Review.
"Having added strength up front is a situation I really enjoy.
"Ideally I like to operate with four experienced strikers, as we did when we won the Treble, when we had Andy Cole, Dwight Yorke, Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
"It was an admirable strength to have when it came to the end of the season and we were competing on three fronts with key games coming at us thick and fast."
Meanwhile, Ferguson has confirmed he will offer Gary Neville a new contract following the long-serving captain's return from a 12-month injury absence.
