    Fergie's a big Foster fan

    29 Jan 2007 - 15:34:34

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Ben Foster will return to Old Trafford at the end of this season.

The 23-year-old is currently enjoying his second season on loan with Watford, but Ferguson is not willing to let his player leave on a permanent basis.

"Without question, Ben will come back here," he said. "All we have done in terms of the goalkeeping situation is identify really good talent and secure their future.

"We know Ben has a good future in the game. He's doing well at Watford and, at his age, has everything in front of him, because I believe him to be England's best young goalkeeper.

"I get a fantastic monthly report from Aidy Boothroyd, which contains all the detail about how he trains, how he is as a professional and how he's developing.

"It's first-class professionalism from Aidy Boothroyd to take the time to go through all the games he plays in that month."

Former Stoke City shot-stopper Foster has made 69 appearances for Watford and helped the Hornets clinch a place in the fifth round of the FA Cup with an outstanding display in the 1-0 win at West Ham United at the weekend.

His performances have also led to call-ups into Steve McClaren's England squad for three matches this season.
