    Fergie reveals United offer

    17 Jul 2008 - 17:00:47

Sir Alex Ferguson has followed up reports suggesting Manchester United are interested in signing Dimitar Berbatov by confirming he has made an offer for one unnamed player.

The Tottenham Hotspur striker is believed to have been the subject of a £20million approach from United following a summer of speculation linking him with the Old Trafford club.

Berbatov, 27, has scored 46 goals in 101 appearances in all competitions for Spurs following his £10.9million arrival from Bayer Leverkusen in 2006.

Speaking before flying out on his side's pre-season tour to South Africa, Ferguson revealed: "We have made a bid for one player who would enhance us a great deal."

Meanwhile speaking earlier on Wednesday, Spurs coach Juande Ramos suggested it may be difficult to keep the Bulgaria international at White Hart Lane this summer.

The Spaniard admitted he faces a fight to keep both Berbatov and Liverpool target Robbie Keane in his ranks before the transfer window closes at the end of August.

He said: "We're going to see how this ends, but we're speaking about two very important footballers.

"For the moment they are with us but, whatever happens, our plan is to have a good squad with a potential that helps us to do better than last year."
