Sir Alex Ferguson is confident of landing Dimitar Berbatov after revealing Manchester United have tabled a bid for the Tottenham Hotspur striker.
United are believed to have offered £25million for the 27-year-old Bulgaria international, who has scored 46 goals in 101 appearances in all competitions for Spurs following his arrival from Bayer Leverkusen in 2006.
"We have made Tottenham an offer on Berbatov and we have good expectations that this deal will go through," he told The Sun.
"Berbatov has been impressive during a long time and would be a great addition to our attack."
Ferguson sees Berbatov as the ideal complement to a strikeforce that already contains the likes of Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez and the veteran Scot is confident of wrapping up a deal before the new Premier League season kicks-off.
"I think time will work for us more than against us. We will not stress this situation," he continued.
"We are hoping to have a constructive conversation with Tottenham in the near future."
Speaking earlier in the week, Spurs coach Juande Ramos admitted it may be difficult to keep the highly-rated marksman at White Hart Lane this summer.
